Press Release: 2024 Honorable Mentions

The iliad Literary-Art Magazine was published May 8 and distribution began on May 23. The magazine contains the written and visual contributions of 57 students, which Editor-in-Chief Olivia Hendershot curated in concert with her editorial board.

“The 2024 iliad Literary-Art Magazine, “PROMETHEUS”, invokes the legendary Titan Prometheus as a metaphor for technological growth within society. The magazine showcased a variety of artistic forms created by students from Clarke Central,” Hendershot said.

iliad Editorial Board members reviewed individual submissions from the 2023-2024 submission form and recognized the best pieces for the magazine based on creativity and storytelling. After evaluations from the Editorial Board, Hendershot made final determinations for publication in the magazine.

This year the iliad reviewed 222 submissions, 26%  of those pieces were published in the the 2024 edition. Current students published in the magazine, “PROMETHEUS” will be featured at an iliad Creative Celebration in September.

The pieces featured here are our 2023-2024 "Honorable Mentions".

“As Editor-in-Chief, I’m grateful for all the submissions we received this year from the students at Clarke Central and students from our feeder middle schools,” Hendershot said. “Although we couldn’t include all of these pieces in our printed magazine, I wanted to highlight the efforts of the artists we deemed Honorable Mention.”

The iliad has been consistently published since 2002 at Clarke Central High School. Throughout the last 22 years, the magazine has been commended by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, the Georgia Scholastic Press Association, the National Council of Teachers of English, the National Scholastic Press Association and the Southern Interscholastic Press Association.
