iliad Creative Celebration

The iliad Literary-Art Magazine held the 2024 Creative Celebration at Nuçi’s Space on Aug. 26. The iliad’s Creative Celebration features artwork and writing published in the iliad’s latest publication to an audience of Athens community members. The event celebrates the creativity of students featured in the latest magazine and creative students at Clarke Central High School.

Conference attendance

Every year, members of the iliad Editorial Board have the opportunity to attend various journalism conferences in the Southeast. At these conferences, students have the opportunity to attend sessions, improve skills, present sessions, and compete in competitions. Conferences that have been attended in the past include the Southern Interscholastic Press Association, National Scholastic Press Association and the Georgia Scholastic Press Association.

Creative Writing Project

The Creative Writing Project is an annual project for the ODYSSEY J1 and Production classes that take place at the end of the first semester. The iliad is responsible for organizing the CWP, and it’s one significant way the magazine gathers submissions. The project takes place over the course of several weeks and includes three check-ins and a final submission deadline. After completing the project, students will share a piece of their work in a class celebration at the end of the semester.

Artist Visits

Clarke Central High School’s iliad Literary-Art Magazine will occasionally host visits with local, regional, and national artists. Typically, these events consist of a panel discussion facilitated by members of the iliad Editorial Board. All CCHS students are encouraged to attend these visits and ask questions of their own about the artists’ work and experiences.
