Multicursal; Natalie Schliekelman Portfolio

Natalie Schliekelman is a Clarke Central High School senior and a member of the ODYSSEY Media Group. Two of Natalie’s writing pieces were featured in the 2022 iliad literary-art magazine, astraeus, both of which were created as a part of the 2021 Creative Writing Project.

The Creative Writing Project is an annual two-week-long project designed by the iliad Editorial Board for ODYSSEY staffers, iliad members, and Journalism One students to complete.

This year’s project incorporated poetry and prose writing, as well as monologue and script writing. Though we only feature two pieces from any one artist in the magazine, we wanted to highlight Natalie’s stellar work on her CWP by creating a miniature magazine of her project, which was created by our Design Editor Eva Orbock.

The project is called “Multicursal'' and Natalie says, “Multicursal means a maze or labyrinth that has several different possible paths to the center. I think of my project as representing a sort of multicursal labyrinth — a creative exploration dedicated to the confusion of not knowing who you are or what the future will hold.”

As the editor of a literary-art magazine, a compilation like this is exactly the kind of unique student writing that I hope to feature to creatively inspire others. We enthusiastically encourage students to submit portfolios of their creations that we can highlight on our website.
