Diversity Statement

As a literary-art magazine and program, we curate a publication and online platforms dedicated to showcasing the artistic voices at Clarke Central High School. Recognizing the platform given to us, we work to maintain the integrity of our program as well as being intentional in accurately representing our diverse school community. We will commit to this goal through engagement in our school, and striving to create an inclusive magazine.

We prioritize amplifying all voices within our program and strive to uphold a fair publication process. While we stay subjective with the content we publish, we take the demographics of students at CCHS into consideration. We seek a variety of writing and art from all perspectives no matter the grade, race, ethnicity, gender, ideology or background.

Living up to our Diversity Statement must be accumulated in numerous ways. Holding ourselves accountable ethically and journalistically, as well as moving past traditional ways of focusing on traditional art and expanding with different forms of creative expression.

We ensure our Editorial Board understands the importance of representing our school within the publication of the iliad platform by encouraging an openness to a diverse set of opinions, backgrounds and ideologies. Submission applications will encourage a wide range of topics and experiences represented through the art from the students and faculty at our school.

Our Editorial Board continually works to review our process in order to showcase the diverse student body that can be found at CCHS. The iliad encourages the community to express any comments or concerns regarding our commitment to diversity. Achieving our goal is an ongoing process and, as an Editorial Board, we pride ourselves on not only diversity but listening respectfully to students who come from different backgrounds. It's our duty as a school publication to represent the CCHS’s student body as a whole.
